Marco Zefferino | Quiliano, Italy MA Candidate (BC11) | Enzo Grilli Memorial Fellowship by Banca d'Italia recipient
Marco Zefferino's International Relations degree from the University of Bologna sent him on a whirlwind educational tour to the University College of Cork for a year and to the University of California, Los Angeles.
Having interned at the U.S. Congress in Washington D.C. and at the European Parliament in Brussels, Marco gained valuable insight, "I felt I needed to study more, to gain knowledge and I really liked the professional emphasis of SAIS," he says. The promise of close relations with alumni was also very attractive for Marco.
Marco is interested in African affairs, and he plans to hold an internship on the continent. During his time at SAIS he hopes to expand his views, explore topics within the private sector and take up the opportunities SAIS has on offer, including experimenting in studying topics in international finance with a view to potential career opportunities in the major financial institutions.
"The Bologna Center has a very international atmosphere, which was one of the most interesting things for me-it is a unique American institution based in Italy," says Marco.
"The program has really exceeded my expectations, especially in terms of professional development. Many of the students have substantial work experience and are tremendously helpful in learning more about various professional fields."
Marco believes SAIS is a good introduction to the working environment. "I feel more prepared for the future," he says. In addition he enjoys the diversity of the program. "I keep meeting people from other parts of the world who have had different experiences."
