Background and Education
Currently teaching at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva and Sciences Po in Paris. Professor of Political Economy and co-director of the Mediterranean Programme of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute (2000-2006). Visiting professor at the CAP, Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universität in München, Germany (2004-05), Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po), Paris (1994-97) and the Department of Economics at UCLA (1986-88). Worked for ENI (1990-2000); Plan Operations Manager, SRI International team, at the Ministry of Planning, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (1988-1990); Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) (1977-1986); Economist with the Bank of Italy (1972-1974); founded and directed the Institute for Research on International Economics (IRECI) (1974-1977). M.A. in economics; Yale University (U.S.); Laurea in economics and statistics, University of Rome (Italy); studied at Harvard University (U.S.)
