Formerly, director, Bereichsleiterin inWEnt, Berlin (2004-06); since 1981 various positions with the World Bank, including senior manager; principle economist in the office of vice president for Europe and Central Asia; country director for Croatia and Albania; chief of mission to Romania; and research fellow for UNICEF, International Child Development Center, in Florence, Italy
Undergraduate degree in law and economics from University of Hamburg, master's degree from American University, Washington, D.C., Ph.D. in law from the University of Hamburg. Additional certificates and diplomas from the Executive Management Program, Harvard University, the German Development Institute and Johns Hopkins University SAIS Bologna Center
