Tuition and living expenses
Tuition for the 2011-12 academic year at the Bologna Center is €29,580. Please note that financial aid from the Bologna Center will be credited in two equal installments, one in October and one in February, to the recipients' internal account. Tuition less any financial support is normally payable in two equal installments by the first day of each semester. All students also pay a Student Government fee of €30 at the beginning of the academic year. Living and miscellaneous expenses are estimated at approximately €10,500, increasing approximately 3% each year. There is a €150 penalty for late payments.
Housing
Students can take advantage of the Bologna Center's housing consultant to find accommodation or elect to find their own lodging. Upon arrival students generally stay in a pensione or hotel for a few days until housing is located. The consultant specializes in apartments with two to six bedrooms and a common kitchen and bathroom(s). A number of small apartments are also available for couples or students who prefer to live alone.
The housing contractor tries to provide a choice of accommodations at various price levels. Apartments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved before arriving in Bologna.
Monthly rent for the 2011-12 academic year ranges from €450 to €600, including utilities, for a bedroom in a shared apartment. Single apartments range from €600 to €1000, excluding utilities. Fluctuations in exchange rates during the year may affect housing and general living costs.
For more detailed information regarding the housing service see also The Incoming Student Guidebook.
