Tuition and living expenses
The tuition fee for the academic year 2009–10 at the Bologna Center is €28,200. Tuition is normally payable in two equal installments by the first day of each semester. All students also pay a Student Government fee of €30 at the beginning of the academic year. Minimum living and other miscellaneous expenses are estimated at approximately €10,500. An increase of approximately 3% occurs each year. There will be a €150 late payment penalty assessed in both the fall and spring semesters.

Housing
An agreement with an independent housing contractor facilitates the housing search in Bologna. Students may choose to take advantage of this service or elect to find their own lodging. Upon arrival students generally stay in a pensione or hotel for a few days until housing is located. Most accommodations available through the housing contractor are apartments with two to six bedrooms and a common kitchen and bathroom(s). A number of small apartments are also available for couples or students who prefer to live alone.

The housing contractor tries to provide a choice of accommodations at various price levels. Apartments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved before arriving in Bologna.

Monthly rent for academic year 2009–10 range from €450 to 600, including utilities, for a bedroom in a shared apartment. Single apartments range from €600 to €1000, excluding utilities. Fluctuations in exchange rates during the year may affect housing and general living costs.

For more detailed information regarding the housing service see also The Incoming Student Guidebook.
